Juried Spring Show 2004

Twenty Eighth Annual Juried Exhibition
(Spring Show) 2004

Juror's Statement "I appreciate the confidence that the Memphis/Germantown Art League has placed in me as juror. I don't take this responsibility lightly. My wife and I had a wonderful time getting to know the people and the place of Germantown. The method that I use when Judging a show is to first get an overview of the pieces by walking around and making small sketches of the works. I rely a lot on my intuition. There is a considerable amount of walking on my part as I make my decisions. Sometimes there are clusters of artists who take on a similar look, but I saw a strong individual personality to the pieces in the show. I awarded pieces based on their staying power In my mind as I look around. I look for honesty in what the artist Is trying to say, a command of the medium, and the unexpected. The quality exhibited in the show should make all of you proud. I would like to congratulate the winners and all who entered. Thank you, Wyatt Waters"
