Television Opportunity!

Hello! My name is Erinn Eichinger, I'm a producer with Home & Garden Television and a show called “That’s Clever!” We profile 3-D artists and crafts people across North America. Our crew travels to their homes or studios and films them creating their art.

We are making a trip to the Memphis area soon and I was hoping you might be able to help spread the word about this exciting opportunity.

If you have access to artists through an e-mail list or data base, I would be thrilled if you would pass along the attached application and flyer to anyone you think may be interested in reaching a national audience with their work.

You can learn more about the show by going to www.hgtv.com, and if you have any further questions please feel free to e-mail me or call me at the number listed below.

Oil Painting Workshop Canceled- Middleton Art League

Regretfully, we have to cancel the Sandee Sander Oil Workshop. We are unable to use the Community Center for the workshop due to a benefit for a local residient and the COC fellowship hall is unavailable. There are many MAL members that are involved with APTA Home Tour and can not be available for the workshop. Several members have sick family members or elderly parents and are unavailable that weekend as well. If you have already paid, we will contact you about tearing up the check or returning it to you. I thank all of you for your interest and participation but the timing is just off.   Hopefully, Sandee will reschedule. I will let you know as soon as I know. Contact me 731-376-0276 or Tracy Callahan 731-764-6901 if you have questions.  Ann Baxter

Bluegrass Plus Art Opportunity!

I am the art director for the Historic Ruffin Theatre in Covington (and a member of MGAL). The first Friday evening of each month we have a free bluegrass concert and we have a visual artist featured. Their artwork is on the stage and people can look at it before the concert and during the intermission. The audience can ask the artist questions as well.

We get the artist in the newspapers, etc. If anyone is interested in having their artwork featured they can call me at 837-6877. Thanks!

Artist Testimony from Lori Montgomery:

"I displayed some of my black and white photography as well as some of my color photography. I was pleased with the comments from the crowd and it was a well attended event. It was also the first time I had displayed so much of my work. The range of subjects was inspired by some of my interests, such as, family, church, special trips, architecture and animals. I had some pictures of my daughter and her children. I had a picture of my church, which is one of the oldest in Tipton County. I had some pictures of Van Buren, AR and the excursion train. I had a photo of the old courthouse in St. Louis were the Dred-Scott decision was argued and some pictures of animals at the Memphis zoo.

If there is any other information that might be needed please contact me by email, or forward this to whomever it needs to go to, thanks, Lori Montgomery"

ART AS ENTERTAINMENT

Pam Craig, Jeanne Seagel, Sher Stewart and Jan Hoppe just completed an event ART AS ENTERTAINMENT in Humboldt TN....it was highly successful and Pam is looking for other artist who would like to sign up for quick sketch work at corporate events and parties. The last event that she managed brought in $100 per hour per artist. Please email Pam any interest.

Subject: Art

I am a Millington Artist. For about a year, I have been working with Hope Presbyterian Church in Germantown during their evening service, The Stirring www.thestirring.net One of the things that makes The Stirring so special is their interest and promotion of the arts. They have a gallery where they hang works (which may be sold) and they feature an artist each month to paint on stage during the worship service. I have been blessed to do this on several occasions and can tell you that it is an awesome experience. The problem we have is getting artists to commit to a month of painting. I wondered if maybe you could check this out yourself and see if this is something the GAL would consider participating in. Let me know what you think, and if it is...I will give more details.
