Our History

Organized on August 16, 1976, as the Germantown Art League, the group was chartered on June 22, 1977, as a nonprofit Tennessee corporation. In May 1988, the organization's name was changed to Memphis/Germantown Art League in recognition of the wider geographical distribution of its members. Today MGAL’s membership encompasses the mid-south area including nearby communities in Mississippi, Arkansas and western Tennessee. The League depends on all its members as volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors and committees and to assist in the work of the organization.

Certification of Star Artist program status is required to enter the 2014 Star Artist in February. Send required information to: Sally Papich, Star Artist Program Coordinator, 713 Locust Drive, Jonesboro, AR 72401-7013 in time for review. Refer to page 7 of the MGAL Yearbook for program information.
